Belinda Downing - Fragments (East Lane)

£3,000.00

Oil on found board, metal hinges
170 x 150 x 60 cm
2025

Working in both paint and sculpture, Belinda Downing employs semi-abstraction and a palette of saturated and vivid colours to create dreamlike images on found objects. Her practice has developed into a study of the dystopia of post war and contemporary ruins, in particular concrete brutalist shape and form in the landscape, in relation to time and memory. Her works reflect back to the Freudian concept of the Uncanny, creating a feeling of unease, worrying at the crossover between 2D and 3D art. Downing is in her final year of a degree in Fine Art at the University of Suffolk.
