David studied in his hometown at the Portsmouth College of Art before moving to London in 1992 to study architecture. While he continues to practice architecture part time, its influence quietly permeates his work as an artist. Painting and drawing en plein air, both in London and further afield, he works from direct observation, attentive to structure, proportion, and the way light shapes form and space. His practice is rooted in careful looking, balancing precision with a responsive, lived engagement with place.
