I’ve always enjoyed polarity & paradox in art. Imagery that sits side by side with its opposite - dark/light, seduction/revulsion, beauty/horror, joy/melancholy, peace/unease.
I think that’s what life is - a glorious challenging mess of contradiction where nothing exists without its opposite hovering in the wings.
I would like to have a strong identity as an artist without repeating myself so my subject matter is varied but I think these contradictions are in every painting I make thereby creating a cohesive body of work that is recognisably my own.
