Luke Alen-Buckley is an Irish-British sculptor working stone by hand in Co. Waterford, Ireland. His practice is grounded in close observation and fidelity to material. Carving limestone is an act of intimacy and resistance: a slow negotiation with matter. He works with local stone, including Kilkenny marble and glacial erratics, allowing fossils, fractures, and latent forms to emerge through carving. These materials extend the work into geological time, where making becomes a dialogue with duration rather than an assertion of form. Alen-Buckley's approach has developed through his works 'Memento Mori', 'Talisman', 'The Morrígan' and 'Doors of Perception'.
