Graphite and Oil Pigment on Paper
76 x 96 x 2 cm
2025
My art practice is grounded in place and shaped by long term engagement with the family farm where my studio is located. Drawing on agricultural processes and rhythms, I work through slow, repetitive actions that echo acts, of surveying, cultivating and managing the land, alongside studied observations of natural features. Surfaces are built up through labour intensive methods of layering, scoring, cutting, burnishing etc. These processes allow structure and intuition to operate together, producing works that balance control and uncertainty. Time, attention and physical engagement are central, inviting quiet observation and sustained looking.
